IT Evolution in PracticeTM

Robert Munn, President

Co-founder Robert Munn is an IT industry expert with 15 years of  professional experience with computers, software, and the Internet. Robert wrote his first program (in BASIC) at age 11 on a TRS-80 Model III. That year, he got a a TRS-80 Color Computer for Christmas, and he was hooked.

Robert attended Tufts University, where he studied Classics and Spanish Literature. His study of Classics opened up the world of human interactions through the politics, religion, and culture of the ancient world. He also learned the study of language as a discipline, and has carried that discipline into the world of software.

Robert spent a year at law school at the University of Maryland, where he decided that he would rather dig ditches for a living than practice law. Fortunately, ditch digging was not in the cards.

Robert moved to Washington, DC and took a job with the U.S. Energy Association. Under a contract with the State Department, he escorted engineers and government officials from the former Soviet states on tours of U.S. energy facilities around the country. Along the way, he put his language skills to use by learning russian. He also became the association's IT guy by dint of his computer experience. At that point, one of his colleagues suggested he make his living in IT, which he has done ever since.

Since 1995, Robert has founded his own company, worked in software consulting, moved to the West Coast, worked in the software, market research, and biotech industries, and built a career in IT.

Ranjitha Kurup, Chief Operating Officer

Ranjitha Kurup believes that one’s education does not need to mirror our work experiences. Ranjitha attended Emory University, where she majored in Psychology with the intent on becoming a physician. Her fear of blood made her re-think her decision to follow in her father’s footsteps. Loving the study of people, she decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Georgia State University. After stints in a state drug rehab facility and a women’s trauma unit in a psychiatric hospital, Ranjitha realized that she wanted to help mankind, but in a different way.

Ranjitha then obtained her Master’s in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her degree led to various jobs in the healthcare industry. She was Director of Operations for Primary Care for a large health care organization and Claims and Systems Manager for another large chain. These jobs gave her invaluable experience in managing people and money along with forecasting and negotiating contracts.

After moving to San Diego, Ranjitha realized she did not want to sit behind a desk any longer. She started a career in residential real estate where she further honed her negotiating and counseling skills.

Today, Ranjitha puts all of these experiences to use as co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Emergent Path.
